International outbound to EU – 2026 Regulatory Changes

European-Commission_flag_palace

We want to make you aware of a number of regulatory changes expected to come into force in 2026 that will affect imports into the EU, particularly around low-value (LV) duty collection and new handling fees associated with HS codes. These updates form part of the EU’s ongoing plans to tighten customs controls, improve revenue collection, and increase data accuracy across all incoming shipments.

Although the regulations are still being finalised, we know they will place a greater emphasis on accurate product data, clear HS code assignment, and upfront duty/tax calculation before goods are released into the EU. This means brands and logistics partners will need to ensure stronger data alignment and more precise declarations.

At this stage, the EU has not yet issued the final operational guidance. However, Sprint Logistics is already preparing by:

  • Monitoring every update released by EU customs and relevant trade bodies
  • Speaking directly with carriers and clearance partners to understand likely system changes
  • Reviewing our internal data processes to ensure we can adapt quickly when the rules are confirmed

Once official guidance is published, we will reach out to you with a full breakdown of what the changes mean for your business. This will cover:

• A clear explanation of the new requirements and how they apply to your shipments
• Any data, documentation or HS code refinements needed to remain compliant
• Expected implementation timelines and the impact on processing
• How Sprint Logistics will support you through the transition to ensure your EU shipments continue to flow smoothly

For now, this message is simply to reassure you that Sprint Logistics is fully aware of the upcoming legislation and preparing well in advance so we can manage the transition on your behalf.
